Easy Snacks: Sauteed peas

I remember hot summer evenings from my childhood, when mom would make sautéed peas for a snack. It is simple delightful, and very healthy. I now have it whenever I am hungry and want to avoid eating junk. With the health benefits of peas, it is a healthy snack, and it can even be had as part of a meal. The tangy flavor of lemon and the freshness of the peas makes it a win-win combination. And the calorie count-very low! Here is my recipe:

Ingredients:

2 cups peas

1 tsp cumin seeds

Salt to taste

½ tsp red chilli powder

2 tbsp oil

1/4 tsp turmeric

Juice from 1/2 lemon

 

Method:

Heat oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds. After about 3 seconds, add peas, salt, turmeric, red chilli powder and sauté till peas are tender. Remove from pan and add lemon juice. The sautéed peas are ready to serve with evening tea, or as a snack in between meals.
