Sauteed mushrooms and toast

This is a quick fix snack for any time of day, though its an ideal

preparation for breakfast. Add sausages and juice and you have a perfect Indian breakfast.  It also makes for a tasty yet light meal-add a soup and dinner is complete! Considering the health benefits that mushrooms offer, this is a very nutritious snack. It is also a wonderful preparation for those who like to preserve the nutrients of the ingredients in any preparation.

Sauteed mushrooms and toast


  • 2 tbsp. oil
  • 2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 cup mushrooms
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder


  1. Heat oil in a pan
  2. Once oil is hot, add cumin seeds
  3. When the seeds begin to pop and sizzle, add mushrooms
  4. Add salt and pepper
  5. Add red chilly powder. This adds a nice flavor to the food. If you prefer a lower spice level, you can avoid this.
  6. Sauté mushrooms till they begin to turn golden brown
  7. Serve on lightly buttered toast
